先週の土曜日(3/7)からチャンネル銀河で、久しぶりに「The Andy Williams Show　アンディ・ウィリアムス・ショー」が放映されています。

数年前の来日公演の歌声は、この時期のものと変らず素晴しいものでした。
騒がしい音楽を楽曲と称し、おおよそアーティストとは程遠い人達をアーティストと呼び、質を低下させてしまっている昨今、このような質の高い音楽番組が放映されるということは、嬉しい事です。

★スポンサーがThe S&H Green Stamps単独となったシーズンの、12月9日放送分です。
ゲストにフランク・シナトラ、ジェリー・マリガン　クワルテットにベン・ウエブスターをフィーチャリングした、バラエティ番組というより質の良い音楽番組になっていると思います。
オープニングからダイナとシナトラは、息の合ったデュエットを聴かせてくれ、メドレーに使われている曲も明るく、ショーの始まりにぴったりです。

ティッカー・フリーマンの伴奏で歌うアービング・バーリンのメドレーも、ダイナの魅力がよく出ていると思いますが、8.の「Mad About Him, Sad Without Him, How Can I Be Glad Without Him Blues」のような曲が、最もダイナ独特の持ち味が出ているような気がします。

クロージングの「The Best Thing In Life Are Free」は本当はダイナのソロなんでしょうが、途中からシナトラが「ダンス」で参加し、後半からデュエットになり、最後は二人でダイナ・ショア・ショーのトレード・マークの投げキッスをして終ります。

ダイナはシナトラとデュエットをしているととても楽しげで、歌にもそれがよく現れています。
しなやかでしかも強さみたいなのも、感じます。
ダイナの良い時期のテレビ・ショーです。

★シボレー提供のダイナ・ショア・シェビー・ショーが1961年に終了した後、1962年に同じくNBC TVでグリーン・スタンプス提供のダイナ・ショア・ショーが4週間に一度の割合で、放送されることになりました。
その第一回目のショーです。
スタジオ収録というよりも劇場で収録しているような感じの、ゲストなしのワン・ウーマン・ショーで進められていて、当時のダイナのラスベガスなどでのショーを思い起こさせるような回となっていると思います。
新人のラジオ時代からの友人である、ハリー・フォン・ツェルや「Hello Young Lovers」でピアノ伴奏をしているティッカー・フリーマンの支えがあり、良いものになっています。
ラストの「スピリチュアル・メドレー」は圧巻。

スポンサーがグリーン・スタンプスになった時、この会社が番組宣伝用にこの回を収録したレコードを製作し、挨拶状を添付して放送局などへ送っています。

2枚組で、この回の模様は1枚目で聴く事ができます。

久々の更新が、TV Showのデータではなくて、お尋ねなんて・・・。

実は、友人が「TVキャスター　マーフィー・ブラウン」をとても見たがっています。
どうも「中年のキャンディス・バーゲン」がお好きなようで・・・笑
私もこのドラマはずっと見ていまして、時折録画もしたのですが、残念なことに、現在では所有していません。
で、DVDは、アメリカ版が出ているのでそちらを勧めたのですが、
「原語だと・・・」ということで、以前NHKかスーパードラマTVで放送された「日本語吹き替え」の方を見たがっています。
どなたか、友人に「見せてあげよう」と、思ってくださる方はいらっしゃらないでしょうか。

この回で、ジュディ・ガーランド・ショーのシリーズは終わりです。
ショーの前半、“Suppertime”までは(“By Meself”を除いて)、この回のために収録されたものですが、“Just in Time”からは22回で使用したものを、使っています。
全体を通して、ジュディのトークや曲の紹介などは殆どなく、歌だけが淡々と進んでいく印象を受けます。

収録をされているのに、結局は放送されなかったものの中に、“Where Is the Clown”というのがあります。ジュディがピエロの扮装をし、曲に合わせてマイムをするのですが、なぜこんな素晴らしいマイムが放送されなかったのか、わかりません。
指先まで神経の届いた繊細な表現を見ると、ジュディの才能の豊かさ、深さを改めて認識させられます。
没後40年近くも経った現在でも、レコードはCDとして再発され、映像はこのようにビデオやDVDとなり、ジュディが活躍した時代を知らない世代の人々にも、多くの感動や共感をよんでいることは、単なるミュージカル・スターや人気のある芸能人ではなく、また「才能溢れる天才」という言葉だけでは語りつくせない、奥の深い芸術家である証明だと思います。

#20の“Judy Garland in Concert”以来、それまでの歌ありコントありダンスありの音楽バラエティ番組というより、ジュディを主としたコンサート形式の音楽番組に構成されていますが、今回も後半にゲストのボビー・コール・トリオが少し出演するだけになっています。
ジュディは、“Joey, Joey, Joey”を優しく歌った後、“Love”、“Get Happy”と進むにつれて、少しずつ感情が坂道をあがっていくように歌い、ミュージカル「オリバー　−Oliver !−」からの曲“As Long as He Needs Me”では、その溢れる感情を深いところから少しずつ出しながら、歌っています。
この後、ボビー・コール・トリオのソロ、ジュディとの“Poor Butterfly”が続き、エンディングの“Old Man River”では、「ジュディの“Old Man River”は何度聴いても、素晴らしい！」と思わせてくれます。

前回と同様に、コンサート形式でプログラムが進行していきます。
オーケストラの演奏の後、ジュディのソロは、曲の紹介なども殆どなく、「Lucky Day」〜「Chicago」まで続きます。軽快な「Lucky Day」や「Chicago」も良いけれど、「Sweet Danger」や「Never Will I Marry」のような感じの曲も、心に残ります。
ヴィック・ダモンとの「Kismet」のメドレーは、２人の声がぴったりと合い、
素晴らしいものになっています。

☆“Kismet”・・・1954年、トニー賞受賞の名作で、
　　　　　　　　　1955年には、ハワード・キール、アン・ブライスで
　　　　　　　　　映画化公開されています。「Stranger in Paradise」や
　　　　　　　　　「Baubles, Bangles and Beads」など、日本でも知られている曲を
　　　　　　　　　聴くことができ、映画では今回のゲストのヴィック・ダモン

2/9放送の20回と同じく、“Judy Garland in Concert”と題されゲストなしのショーで、今回は、映画の中から曲をピックアップしています。
オーケストラのメドレーの後、ジュディの1つめのメドレーがあり、その後、次のメドレーの紹介をジュディがしているのですが、バックには次のメドレーの1曲目“If I Had a Talking Picture of You ”にかけているのか、“You oughta be in pictures”が流れています。
2つめのメドレーの2曲めの“Toot, Toot, Tootsie”と、次の曲“Dirty Hands, Dirty Face”は共に、1927年のアル・ジョルスン−Al Jolson−主演の“The Jazz Singer”で、アル自身によって歌われている曲で、ジュディは“Dirty Hands, Dirty Face”を情感を込めて歌っています。
ジュディだけで進行していくこのショーは、この後、ジュディの代表する曲が続き、最後の“Be a Clown”では、扮装をこしらえていく様子が画面の下半分に映し出されています。
そして、“Over The Rainbow”の曲が流れるなか、ショーはクローズします。

　短めのオーバーチュアの後、ジュディは「Hey, Look Me Over」、「Smile」に続き、ゆっくりとしたテンポで感情をおさえて歌う「I Can't Give You Anything but Love (捧ぐるは愛のみ)」で、聴く人を少しずつジュデイの歌の世界に引き込んでいき、アップテンポの「Come Rain or Come Shine (降っても晴れても)」でジュディの情熱的な歌は完全に聴く人の心を捉えています。
メル・トーメとのデュエット「The Trolley Song」の後半には、ジュディのかなり長いロングトーンが入っているのですが、これは聴きものです。スゴイ！の一言です。
ゲストのダイアン・キャロルとメル・トーメの歌も良く、ショー全体も音楽番組として、心地よくいいものに仕上がっている回だと思います。
「Born in a Trunk」の２曲のあと、「Over the Rainbow」が演奏のみで入っていて、クロージングになっています。

☆この頃にはジュディとメル・トーメの間柄は、もはや友人と呼べる間柄ではなかったようですが、映像を見る限り、全くそんな感じには見えません。プロフェッショナルなんだなぁ。。。
